Marek Pistora’s typeface

1+3/The Merkur typeface brings to life the poetics of cranes, caterpillar tractors, trains, towers and bridges. It draws inspiration from circular shapes derived from geometrically constructed typefaces and “constructs” letterforms out of child toy basic building blocks. Latin alphabet by a playful experiment and results in an unmistakable style.
2/In 2001 Marek Pistora became art director of Reflex magazine. He struggled his way through fleeting typographic creations, and installed an authoritarian rule of simple planes and geometric sections.
