Design of ANALOG watches and bespoke numbers
In 2021, we were approached to collaborate on a project that goes well beyond our two-dimensional space. Radek Sidun’s collaboration with product designer Michal Froňek from Olgoj Chorchoj studio enabled the new design to emerge. We designed a dial, hands and a special set of numerals for the Czech watch manufacturer Robot. Their construction allows for application in precious metals using advanced processing technologies even in the smallest details. The numerals are based on the Barell font – a new addition to our type library.
The original concept of the dial and hands is the work of Radek Sidun. The design uses the Barell font, which complements a set of numerals adapted for use on the dial. Night mode of ROBOT ANALOG watch – GRAPHIC collection.

Their construction allows for application in precious metals using advanced processing technologies even in the smallest details. Their skeleton design allows application in noble metals using advanced technologies. The system includes two different sets of numbers, each adapted to a different size.
The ANALOG watch model is a tribute to the iconic graphic designer Jiří Rathouský. His typography is strongly associated with the wayfinding systems of buildings, housing estates and Prague public transport, i.e. exactly where time plays an important role.
Radek Sidun, type designer at Prague-based Briefcase Type Foundry, designed the dial, hands and a special set of numerals.

ROBOT is a brand of quality mechanical watches, an idea which originated in the Czech Republic. Just as the world-famous term “robot” comes from this country in the heart of Europe. Out of passion for technology, handwork and craftsmanship, production comes to life every day in the manufactory in Nové Město nad Metují, where attractive mechanical watches with a high percentage of handwork and quality Swiss movements are created in small series.
